Thanks a lot for your feedback, Swati! And congratulations on the first comments on our blog... :)
I completely agree with the point you two make regarding a unification of the look... We left a lot of liberty to our video reporters there, but I think branding and design is one of the areas where the limitation would not be too painful for our video apprentices, whereas the gain in 'professional feel' would be considerable.
Having said that, there will always be a trade-off between the professional quality of the final product and the idea of training participants to be amateur video reporters, but I agree with Hynek that I would not trade in the training for a sleeker product made by full-time video reporters only. I think the social/participatory dimension of our reporting has proven to be extremely important during this f2f, and we would never have seen so many shining eyes (and quite certainly wouldn't have had half the visitors on our blog) if it had only been Hynek, Nara and me interviewing, filming and editing and Bertha writing texts.

Adrian and I have by the way published summaries of the social reporting experience at the F2F on the blog of our section Learning& Networking, with Adrian writing about the <a href="http://www.sdc-learningandnetworking-blog.admin.ch/2011/03/29/social-reporting-sdc-lessons-to-be-learned/" rel="nofollow">overall organisational and financial aspects</a> and me focusing on the <a href="http://www.sdc-learningandnetworking-blog.admin.ch/2011/03/23/social-reporting-experience-from-the-dlgn-f2f/" rel="nofollow">video specific experience</a>.

You touch an important point, Swati. It is a fine line between too much norms that would kill the delight working and experimenting with this new medium and an "anything goes" policy, which would undermine the importance of the discussions that take place during a work shop on serious topics. The right combination must be struck.

I agree with Hynek on the point of unifying the look. Its a valid point that some information on the day-date-agenda of programme, the place being covered, the interviewee etc would help the viewer get clarity. Even for us in say a years time, a little more information on videos/films will be useful to recollect the experiences.
Having said that, a part of me enjoyed the films because I had to think of the names of people, places, events and sometimes having it all written out just makes us more lazy to think. I also liked the fact that each social reporter got a chance to tell the story in their way. :)
So lets go for uniffication but make sure that we retain the sporadic, spontaneous and creativite products that processes like this bring out....

Okay...I am back in Delhi and this is the first time I have come back from an official tour and shown the REPORTS to my family. Each film capturing impressions of each day are a pleasure to watch. BUT does not mean I did not narrate my stories ;).....
Thanks to all social reporters for their effort so we could re-visit the experience and share it with friends and family.
